In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few decades — or you’re one of our “extraterrestrial” readers tapping into the Earth internets for a high-school research paper — we should explain that the “Store Wars” video is riffing on George Lucas'”Star Wars” series of “space cowboy” movies which debuted in the 1970s, and “the Meatrix” is likewise a takeoff of the Wachowski brothers’ “Matrix” trilogy of films, from the late 1990s. For some philosophical background on “The Matrix” concept, check out French media theorist Jean Baudrillard’s book, “Simulation and Simulacra”.
