The latest breaking story from raw milk down under, excerpted from the couriermail.com.au website:
“IT’S a story of undercover agents and an illegal substance, set in the heart of Queensland’s best-known hippie community.
The Maple Street Food Co-op in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast has become an alternative lifestylers’ icon over the past three decades. But now the store has been busted – for allegedly promoting the sale of raw, or unpasteurised, milk for drinking which has been illegal in Australia since the 1980s.
The co-op stocks raw milk produced by Trevor Mahaffey at his dairy farm in Goomboorian near Gympie and sold around the country under the brand “Cleopatra’s Bath Milk” as a cosmetic.
In February last year, a plain-clothes Queensland Health official bought a bottle from the Maleny store. Authorities allege a shop assistant promoted the milk for drinking.
The co-op claims entrapment, saying the official acted as an agent provocateur, asking if the milk was fit for human consumption. The worker said although she drank it, the shop’s policy was that it was for cosmetic purposes only.
The case is due to be heard at Caloundra Magistrates Court on July 9. If convicted, the co-op could face fines of up to tens of thousands of dollars.
“We are terrified,” said financial officer Dick Newman. “This could put us out of business, kill us. They have a couple of high-powered barristers working on the case and we have a folk singer representing us.”….”

If you do some research, you will find that in England there is a Milkman, who recently received a kind of Medal of honor from the Queen of England. Ask him about Raw Milk and see what he says. From what we hear, the Royal family has raw milk available to most at the Palace. What does this all mean to you?
The Milkman is Back!

I just don’t get it. In a world where alcohol is readily-accessible, why is drinking/selling raw milk illegal? Especially when smoke shops exist and provide substances and paraphernalia to the public. I’ve never been a proponent of less-government, but after reading articles like this, it certainly perpetuates the thought. To everything in life, something bad can happen. Recently in Australia, a girl became permanently injured from contacting salmonella from KFC. It was cooked! Let us decide what we want to ingest in our bodies. Some people pump their bodies with grease, cigarettes, and alcohol and that isn’t illegal nor is the access to those items hard to find. If the government is so concerned with us being “sick” and contracting “illnesses”, step one should be the closing of all the fast food restaurants. Such a strange amount of energy going towards the banning of raw milk sales. Seems like this energy could be far-better suited for something actually important. “We want free choice, not dictatorship.” It should be my free choice to be healthy. And, happy. I’ll sign any pro-raw-milk campaign. firstname.lastname@example.org
Stupid law to have it banned anyway , people who busted them should be ashamed
