British Columbia Eco-Dairy promotes a corporate simulacrum of eco-dairying

According to Michael Schmidt who visited this B.C. eco-dairy near Abbotsford and took some of the photos below, this dairy receives government support (your tax dollars) and corporate sponsorship and charges admission for tours. Other images are screen captures from the farm’s website.

Wisconsin working group on standards for sale of raw milk is making progress

“A set of standards that could apply to Wisconsin dairy farmers wanting to legally sell unpasteurized milk is one step closer.

The state’s “raw milk policy working group” held its eighth meeting in Madison last week. The 22-member task force spent seven hours sifting through its 70-page “working draft” of preliminary recommendations. Much of the time, the task progressed line by line and word by word.

In the end, the group is trying to reach two goals. First, it is to “consider whether there are legal, regulatory means that might allow dairy farmers to sell unpasteurized, fluid, raw milk directly to consumers,” according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
