Michael Schmidt will be back in court tomorrow for the Crown’s appeal of his January 2010 raw milk trial victory

As a writer in Toronto Life once observed, raw milk seems to be a news story that just won’t go away.

This next episode in Ontario’s raw milk saga will pit the best lawyers taxpayer money can buy against renegade farmer Michael Schmidt and his new legal counsel, litigation director Karen Selick, of the Canadian Constitution Foundation.

Karen Selick originally announced that the Foundation would support Michael Schmidt’s raw milk case at a Queen’s Park news conference back in November of 2009.

Tomorrow’s court date will begin at 9:30 am, Wednesday April 13th, 2011, at 50 Eagle Street in Newmarket, Ontario.

Raw milk fans and food rights enthusiasts are encouraged to come out and show their support.

If the case cannot be resolved in one day, Ms. Selick expects that it will continue at a future date rather than on the next day.

Latest update from lawyer Karen Selick is that the proceedings will take place in courtroom 100

Ironic that the case is “The Queen vs. Michael Schmidt.” Of course all of them are, but in this case it’s especially apt. The Queen drinks raw milk. In fact, she and Prince Phillip each have a herd of purebred dairy cows.
