Michael Schmidt is back from Prague, where he spoke at a raw milk conference. But he’ll have just a few days to regroup at the farm before he heads off to Alberta for a lecture tour culminating in the latest in a series of court appearances in the raw milk case of Judith Johnson and Eric Pudlow.
The date for that court appearance has been set for June 9th at 1 pm in Room 355 of the Edmonton courthouse. Everyone — supporters, media, dairy farmers, consumers, lobbyists, regulators, policy makers — is invited to come out. Michael has apparently discussed things with the lawyer in advance with a view to wrapping up the case on that date rather than delay or postpone for futher proceedings.
Michael’s talks in Edmonton, which will take place in three different places, will be on the theme “From Consumer to Co-producer”. They will focus on the importance of understanding the nature of cooperation needed to prevail in the battle over food rights.
Topics to be addressed will include the human rights issue of food freedom, the building of a sustainable farm and food community, Farm share, Cow share and Food share models, as well as a discussion of the necessary next steps involved in lobbying the government for change. These talks will take place at the following places, dates and times:
Grande Prairie – June 7, 2011 Centre for Creative Arts, 10031 – 103 Ave. Grande Prairie, AB, 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Wildwood – June 8, 2011 with Michael Schmidt, Ravine Hall, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Edmonton – June 8, 2011 Slow Food Edmonton featuring Michael Schmidt, Downtown Edmonton Public Library, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Room 7
