The advantages of raw milk as a food

Here’s a fascinating perspective from Matt Stone, of 180 degrees health blog, on the unique contribution made by raw milk as a food. Matt is nine days into a raw milk diet experiment.

“When I say “advantages of raw milk” I don’t mean advantages over pasteurized milk. I’m talking about overfeeding with raw milk, and what the potential advantages may be of a milk diet vs. a mixed, whole foods diet used specifically for overfeeding and stimulating the metabolism.

Advantages include:

1) Milk is 100% raw, with lots of digestive enzymes including lipases, lactase, and proteases which assist in full assimilation of the milk.

2) Raw milk doesn’t contain trace amounts of harmful substances found in cooked foods, like lipid peroxides, heterocyclic amines, and polycyclic whatchamacallits Continue reading

Matt Stone embarks on raw milk diet

This is blogger Matt Stone of 180 degrees health blog, from which we’ve excerpted choice bits in the past. I’m really impressed by Mr. Stone’s research, and am fully intending to buy and read his ebooks sometime real soon. Here’s a bit of what he says about his latest dietary experiment:

“Alright, I’m bummed to be doing this “extreme” diet.  I have no need to take such drastic measures, and to be honest, the last serious diet (2 weeks vegan) took a toll like no diet has in a long while.  But it’s time to check it out, and with my girlfriend under the knife as I type this in a hospital lobby (jaw surgery – I’m very excited to write about some of the things the docs have said to her so far, like “wow, 98.6!  We don’t see that very often”), it seems like the most appropriate time there will ever be to try a liquid-only diet.  Poor Aurora’s gonna be on liquids-only for up to 12 weeks.  Surely I can give milk 4. Elizabeth Walling’s 23-day raw milk fast

Thanks to Anne-Marie Michaels for the heads up on this exciting story. This is from a report by Elizabeth Walling of The Nourished Life blog. That report appears as a guest post on Matt Stone’s 180 degrees health blog. Here’s an excerpt:

Elizabeth Walling -- the "fast" woman

“It’s now time for the greatly-anticipated results of Elizabeth Walling’s milk mania.  How did it go?  As expected.  She had the full-on milk diet experience as described by the old-schoolers like J.E. Crewe, Bernarr MacFadden, and Charles Sanford Porter.  How’s this for a kickoff to Milk-Man Michael Miles’s upcoming milk diet website?

I guess this is as good a time as any to also reveal some news.  I’ll be doing the milk diet for most of the month of May while in California.  I can’t wait.  I’ll be blogging like a madman.  Anyway, without further ado, here’s Elizabeth Walling, a woman who clings to the word “Nourish” and who has taken the concept to new heights.  Thank you so much Elizabeth.  May this inspire many out there in desperate need of a health “miracle.” …” Continue reading
