VAXXED playing Toronto until Sept. 1

Next Thursday, Sept. 1st, Vaxxed will wrap up a five-week run at Toronto’s Kingsway Theatre.  The doc is also being screened at the Imagine-Rainbow Cinema in Ottawa until Sept. 1.

The Toronto theatrical run began with four question and answer sessions with Dr. Wakefield and Brian Burrowes on July 29-30 (opening weekend).

Originally scheduled to play for one week only, the run was extended due to ongoing interest generated by word of mouth publicity.

More about the movie here.

VAXXED in Toronto, now until Aug. 11

You may remember a few months ago when the exclusion of Vaxxed, a documentary film about the issues around vaccination, was excluded from the Tribeca film festival in New York.

Well, as it turns out, that exclusion was maybe the best thing that could have happened to it. The resulting publicity has helped spark interest in the film and its message.

A week ago, last Friday, Vaxxed debuted in Toronto at the Kingsway Theatre, followed by a Q and A session with Dr. Wakefield. There was another Q and A after the screening on Saturday and then the film was set to run until August 4th, which was yesterday.

But now, due to public interest, screenings will be continuing until August 11th. So if you didn’t get down to see it already, there’s still an opportunity to do that.

“VAXXED” and “the Streisand Effect”

From the Levi Quackenboss blog:

“Surely you’ve heard a few times this month that Robert De Niro deselecting Andrew Wakefield’s movie VAXXED at Tribeca was the best thing that could have ever have happened to it.  Even though De Niro was kicking himself for his knee-jerk reaction on the Today Show last week in the greatest six-and-half-minute interview of all time, no one can deny that this has turned into quite the phenomenon.

I’m not going to lie– I was momentarily devastated when I saw the news that it was pulled three weeks ago. “Pharma wins again,” I thought.  “No surprise there.” I figured that the two-day ride that the movie had at the top of Facebook’s trending news was over; VAXXED would disappear into oblivion without anyone outside of our circle ever seeing it. Financial pressure on Australian parents to vaccinate their children

From John Rappoport:

“The other day, I wrote about radical changes in Australian vaccination policy. Principally, the national government has unilaterally decided that parents who receive government money will have that money taken away, if they don’t vaccinate their children. (See:Australia: refuse vaccination, lose $15,000)

Now I have learned that all families in Australia receive some form of government money. So the policy change affects everyone.

Which, of course, is what happens when citizens become beholden to big government. Government taketh, giveth back, taketh again, on their own timetable, according to their own dictates.

Fewer parents choosing to vaccinate

From Christina Sarich, on Global Research:

“The number of parents deciding not to vaccinate their children is growing at an alarming rate – at least according to officials who are now nonplussed at the waking of humanity.

Considering the quite ‘heavy’ vaccination schedules proposed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), parents should be refusing vaccinations. Since the 1950′s, the number of vaccines children under 6 are expected to obtain has grown by 414%. Apparently, at least Californian parents have had enough and are refusing to immunize their kindergarten-aged children.

Public health experts are saying that these refusals to have their children vaccinated (at a rate of half as often than just 7 years ago) is contributing to the re-emergence of measles across the state, and may lead to serious outbreaks of ‘other diseases.’ But this is nothing more than scare-mongering and the typical line of vaccination-pushers. Lessons from the fight over an attempt at compulsory vaccination in Vermont

From Barbara Loe Fisher, on Mercola.com

“This month, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) joins with our Health Liberty partners to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the founding of the Health Liberty Coalition by Mercola.com.

For many years, NVIC and the non-profit Consumers for Dental Choice, Organic Consumers Association (OCA), Fluoride Action Network (FAN) and Institute for Responsible Technology have each worked to protect human health through public education and informed choice advocacy.

At the heart of Health Liberty is respect for the informed consent and precautionary principles, which together serve as an ethical foundation for protecting consumer rights and ensuring product safety. Continue reading

What new pathogens are we creating?

We’ve probably all heard how development of the dreaded E.coli O157 has been credited to confined cattle feeding operations of the 80s, and that MRSA has been linked to pig CAFOs  in the midwest.

What other new and virulent pathogens will we yet breed as a “side-effect” from continuing farther with these same divorced-from-nature farming practices?

It’s anyone’s guess what shit will hit the fan when the recently introduced GMO alfalfa, for instance, starts being fed to cattle on a large scale? To quote from Ernst Schumacher (author of the book “Small is Beautiful”), “Finally we must say no, this technology is too violent.”

David E. Gumpert quoting Brigitte Ruthman, on The Compete Patient:

“As an experienced herdsman I can tell you that we never gave calves immunizations at birth…and three calves have fared well under similar circumstances here. But it was apparent something Titanic nibbled on after being let out in his second day of life, e coli or salmonella, got into his gut.

We never saw scours like this in Vermont in the 70s. We had scours that created a loose manure, and the calf could be easily corrected.

I saw this scour as something stronger. His ears flopped and he became listless within the hour it took to treat him. I only gave antibiotics when he showed symptoms. By then, the powerful bug had overtaken him. I understand now, after watching Titania, his half sister, what likely occurred. Continue reading
