Illinois Legislators Honour Right of Consumers to Buy Farm Fresh Milk

From Kimberly Hartke at the Weston A. Price Foundation:

Washington, DC –April 10, 2014–( GlobeNewswire )– A proposed bill in Illinois banning the sale and distribution of natural or “raw” milk, is not going anywhere this session after legislators heard from “thousands” of natural milk proponents. The restriction, which was introduced as an amendment to an unrelated bill, would have banned the sale and distribution of raw milk in Illinois.

The sponsor, Daniel Burke (D-23rd district), chose not to move the bill out of committee after legislators were inundated with calls and emails from concerned Illinois citizens.

Today, The Weston A. Price Foundation issued a point-by-point rebuttal of Illinois public health official claims that a ban was warranted. See Response to the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium, Inc. on the Campaign for Real Milk website. Continue reading

CDC cherry picks the data to make case against the safety of raw milk — WAPF

From Kimberly Hartke at the Weston A. Price Foundation:

Agency ignores data that shows dangers of pasteurized milk

WASHINGTON, DC, February 22, 2012. In a press release issued yesterday, authors affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control claim that the rate of outbreaks caused by unpasteurized milk and products made from it was 150 times greater than outbreaks linked to pasteurized milk.” The authors based this conclusion on an analysis of reports submitted to the CDC from 1993 to 2006.

According the Weston A. Price Foundation, the CDC has manipulated and cherry picked this data to make raw milk look dangerous and to dismiss the same dangers associated with pasteurized milk. Continue reading

Bill of rights day and a glass of raw milk

From Andrew Mastrocola on the Jefferson WAPF blog:

Raw milk freedom riders crossing the interstate line into Illinois with 100 gallons of raw milk.

“The Bill of rights was ratified 220 years ago, on December 15, 1791. Virginia became the 12th state to ratify the first 10 amendments, and they became law.

The Bill of Rights guarantees that citizens can not be oppressed by their own government. It guarantees freedom of speech, of the press, of religion, of assembly and of petition in one sweeping declaration in the First Amendment. The subsequent amendments guarantee citizens the right to protect themselves, be secure in their home, be granted a speedy trial by jury, be free from unreasonable search or arrest and not be forced to testify against oneself or be subjected to excessive punishment.
