CFIA’s mighty enforcement powers

A past president of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) provides an overview of the agency’s remarkable powers.

From Ronald Doerring, on “Food Law”:

“A Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) inspector stopped at a farm and talked with the old farmer: “I’m here to inspect your farm.” The old farmer replied, “You better not go in that field.”

The CFIA inspector replied in a solemn tone, “You don’t seem to understand. I have the authority of the federal government with me.

See this CFIA card? I am allowed to go wherever I wish anywhere in Canada if I’m conducting an investigation.”

So, the old farmer shrugged and went about his farm chores. Later, the farmer heard loud screams and saw the CFIA inspector running for the fence, and close behind was the farmer’s prize bull.

The bull was mad and gaining at every step. The old farmer called out, “Show him your card!”….”

Well, first it has given me a big smile, but the rest of it seems to me not scary at all but literaly stupid. Here is my point of view to all this. STOP BEING AFRAID!!!! This is not a migthy Law, it is and was manmade and therefore CAN be changed. What i am missing here is the fact, that people here in Canada seem to don’t understand that they have the Power too. If we show fear all the time, in any cases there is, than we shouldn’t be surprised if anybody can walk over us. So my advice is: STOP BEING AFRAID and STOP BEING TO TIMID as the Public people we are and fight this injusdice once and for all. i understand Control and Regulations are important to some degree, don’t get me wrong on that. but when it becomes rediculous, and even criminal and abusive on a higher scale, then there is NO human Law which preventing us from fighting back. In cases like this, just a handful won’t do it. So get organized Farmers from Coast to Coast and really let your voices be heard or be the fearful puppy who is cowardly hiding in the corner, not to be punished. The choice is yours!!!
